As part of my corporate career, I had the opportunity to work with my companies’ European sales and marketing team. During this time, the European team was one of the best business organizations I have ever seen. They always hit their revenue targets and were consistently profitable. The key to the European team’s success was a relentless focus on their objectives. These folks were so focused on goals that it was challenging for me to convince them to try a new product or service. While this reluctance to try new offerings was frustrated, it was quickly forgotten at the end of every quarter when the European team turned in their astounding results.

The European team had a saying whenever their focus began to drift, ever so slightly, from the clear objectives. The saying was “Hocus Pocus Focus.” I am not sure it was stated in English, but the meaning is clear. The phrase reminded these folks to restore their attention to the objectives. Staying focused is essential in all elements of our lives and has the potential to help us be very successful.

I started this blog almost two years ago with the selfish intent of writing on topics of interest to me. While I have enjoyed writing the blog, I have been told by several knowledgeable people that I need to focus more on individual topics.

I have many interests and am not ready to focus this blog on a single topic but, I intend to start steering in that direction. To begin increasing my blog focus; my first step will be to start a new blog focused on spiritual matters. The blog is called Spiritually Equipped where I will be sharing my thoughts on living a Christian life in today’s society.

For now, this blog will continue to contain articles on various topics. Eventually, I may spin some of these topics off into focused blogs. If you would like to read articles with a spiritual focus, I encourage you to check out Spiritually Equipped.

Make the most of this day!
